About Menlo
Menlo Research is an Applied R&D lab building Asimov, an open-source humanoid robot platform, and the full software stack that powers it. Our mission is to make humanoid labor economically viable, turning software into physical labor at scale. We build across the full stack: hardware architecture, locomotion, autonomy, simulation, and infrastructure. We move fast, ship to real robots, and open-source everything we can. If you want your work to matter beyond a paper or a demo, this is the place.
The Role
We’re building a humanoid robot in public, one day at a time. Asimov’s story already lives across X, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Discord. It’s told by our team and by a growing community of builders who take our open-source CAD and code and make wild things with it. We need someone to turn that raw material into stories people can’t stop watching.
As our New Media & Content Storyteller, you’ll own how Menlo and Asimov show up on screen. You’ll find the story inside an engineering week, shoot it, cut it, and ship it in a format native to every platform. You’ll work from the lab floor alongside our engineers and researchers, not from a brief, and your lead character is a working humanoid.
What You’ll Do
Own Menlo’s short-form and long-form video end to end, taking each story from a moment in the lab to a finished, platform-native piece that ships the same week
Run our build-in-public series, turning daily progress across hardware, locomotion, and research into a narrative people follow day after day
Shoot, edit, and publish across X, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn, adapting each story to how that platform actually works
Find the story in the technical, working with engineers and researchers so a new gait, a firmware fix, or a policy breakthrough lands with a non-expert audience without dumbing it down
Amplify our community by spotting what builders make with Asimov, remixing it, and giving them a stage
Capture our demo nights, community talks, and launches, and turn each one into content that lives well beyond the event
Grow the audience: track what works, test formats and hooks fast, and double down on what lands
Shape Menlo’s voice on camera and in writing, and build a library of footage, scripts, and assets the whole company can draw on
What We Look For
You have a portfolio of video and social content that grew a real audience, whether for a brand, a product, or yourself
You shoot and edit fast with whatever’s on hand, from a phone to a proper rig, in Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar
You understand each platform natively, and you know why what works on TikTok fails on YouTube
You’re genuinely curious about technology and robotics, and happy to ask engineers basic questions until the story clicks
You write sharp hooks, scripts, captions, and threads
You ship constantly and treat analytics as feedback, not judgment
You use AI as a real collaborator in your creative workflow
Nice to Have
Experience creating content for a hardware, deep tech, or developer-focused company
An existing following on any platform
Comfort on camera as a host or narrator
Motion graphics, 3D, or animation skills in tools like After Effects or Blender
A background in film, journalism, or documentary, especially covering science or engineering
Experience working with creator and developer communities
Why Join Menlo
Most content roles are about making a product look exciting. Here, the product is a walking, open-source humanoid that gets better every week, and you’ll see every breakthrough before anyone else does. You’ll have room to experiment, an engineering team that builds in public by default, and a community already making content you can build on. If you want to tell the story of robots entering the world while it’s actually happening, come build it with us.
A Note on AI
You don't need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect everyone at Menlo to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement. When that's the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don't treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on.
Equal Opportunity and Accommodations
We hire talented people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you're excited about a role but don't meet every bullet, we still encourage you to apply. Menlo Research is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristic. Menlo provides reasonable accommodations during the application process. If you need one, please let your recruiter know.
