Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment’s audio team is seeking a Composer’s Assistant to support our Music Staff to maintain and maximize our engagement in all music related tasks involved with our franchises. The Music Team is part of the Story and Franchise Development Department and works with all Blizzard teams to create music for in-game content, trailers, cinematics and much more.

You will be assisting with all aspects of music production, working with producers and composers to help with everything along the music pipeline and ensuring that composers’ eyes and ears are on all materials. You will be helping with editing and prepping, as well as implementing music assets using custom tools.  Assisting with recording sessions is also a responsibility for this role, and that includes score prep, session prep and more.  Additionally, you will be responsible for managing and archiving all related music assets. Superior organizational and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to create top drawer mock-ups and arrangements.  Proficiency in music editing is a requisite. Solid orchestration skills are a plus, must be fluid in Sibelius and or Finale.

The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA. However, we understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore other possible options, including remote work arrangements.


This is a 12-month temporary position.

Responsibilities

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Create MIDI mockups and production materials based on composer direction.
  • Prepare, organize, and deliver music assets for implementation.
  • Implement and maintain music assets using Wwise and proprietary game development tools.
  • Support composers and audio teams with implementation testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • Manage and archive music assets, source files, stems, mixes, and related documentation.
  • Assist with cue tracking, file organization, metadata management, and version control.
  • Support recording session preparation, including score preparation, session materials, and project tracking.
  • Help maintain music databases, asset libraries, and project documentation.
  • Assist producers and composers with day-to-day production support and administrative needs.
  • Track music-related requests and follow-through on assigned tasks to ensure timely delivery.

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • Degree, certificate, or equivalent experience in music production, composition, audio engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Wwise or comparable audio middleware.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong proficiency in at least one professional DAW, such as Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper, or Logic Pro.
  • Ability to create and edit music notation in Sibelius, Finale, Dorico, or equivalent software.
  • Understanding of interactive music systems and game audio workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and standard productivity software.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $24.43 - $45.19 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
